The innovative Septrac design uses two separate units – one for pulling and one for storing the rope – allowing for constant pulling force and constant rope speed, regardless of rope length and spool diameter. Optimized for smooth operation, this eliminates loss of pulling force, stops and jams.
The compact traction unit, with its fully integrated planetary gearbox, is smaller than a conventional drum winch and can be mounted separately from the storage unit, with a guiding of the rope between the two units. This space-saving design offers greater flexibility in vehicle integration and rope entry point options. The rope storage unit can be dimensioned, positioned and oriented independently of the traction unit posi- tion and the rope entry point – giving vehicle designers and manufacturers ultimate flexibility.
The low tension storage unit offers more safety and longer rope life with a modest back tension force of just 2-4% of the available pulling force. This eliminates the risk for crushing layered coils and jamming when rewinding a slack rope. Storage drums are available in several different sizes, with powered storage drums available for extra-long rope lengths.
